Question 2
2.1 Discuss the process of the scientific method and clarify what is meant by the
scientific process.

Scientists use a method or a process called the scientific method when the are
conducting research to collect evidence during a experiment which are related to
there hypothesis, the results then either support or contradict their theory.

In this process the scientist will first observe or make an observation that will
intrigue them to want to do a experiment to find out more. The point of first observing
is to guide or help the scientist to state the problem or formulate a question based on
their observation.

Next the scientist will formulate a hypothesis, a hypothesis is when the scientist
makes a predication or a educated guess about the outcome of the experiment, this
always starts with the word “If” and gives a possible reason for the outcomes.

After the hypothesis is formulate the scientist will perform the experiment. In the
experiment the scientist will have a control experiment (one that is unchanged or
kept constant) and other experiments that are influenced by variables (factors
influencing the outcome). The scientist will use independent variable (factors
deliberately manipulated) and dependent variables (factors affected by other
variables).

Lastly will be the conclusion, in the conclusion a summary is given of the results
and the hypothesis is either proven correct or the hypothesis is rejected.

Therefore we can say the scientific process is a process or method used to
understand elements of the universe by means of conducting research, measurable
evidence during experiments related to a specific hypothesis (statement) with the
results aimed at either supporting or contradicting a theory.
