Q) Make an argument, based on the research, showing whether you believe organizational cultures can change and why. Include the definition of organizational culture relative to its common characteristics and the factors that create/maintain culture. A) Organizational culture – a system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes the organization from other organizations (Robbins, Judge, 2017) There are many pros and cons about sending electronic information over the internet. Some pros that come to mind is the ability to reach out to multiple coworkers and employees instantly. This is extremely important for companies because when a business needs to change policy or make a correction to a procedure it saves the company time and money from printing out large amounts of papers. Also, so when sending emails, the over all message is not lost in translation because word of mouth is not reliable. Being able to send out emails and other forms of online communication also helps a company’s organizational culture, connect with employee by sending out invites to company events, inform them about what the company is doing outside the office and introduce new employees to the current work force. On the other hand, there are some cons to sending electronic information. Sending electronic information is final and can never truly be erased. Most issues are human errors like sending information to the wrong person. Sending the wrong information can have some serious repercussions like lawsuits, confidential information being made public and even the dismissal of the employee who sent the email. One example that comes to mind is when the US Airways was responding to a customer and accidently sent out an inappropriate picture, for which they apologized after for the offensive image. The image that was not disclosed from the company or the customer that received the image. Reference Robbins, S. P., Judge, A. T., (2017) Organizational behavior, Pearson publishing company, New York, New York.
