What constitutes personal protective equipment? When should personal protective equipment be worn? Why is personal protective equipment important? (10 points) Personal protective equipment is constituted by objects worn that help protect from chemicals and other matters that are used in the lab. Some PPE’s include gloves, lab coat/apron, and glasses or goggles. PPE’s should be worn when conducting any of the experiments we will participating in this class. This equipment is important because we will be working with chemicals that are not safe to the human skin, eyes, etc. 2. Why are there increasing levels of biological containment procedures? What level of biological containment will be necessary to complete the experiments in this manual? These procedures are increasing because our knowledge of microbes is increasing. They also increase based on the microbes we work with. We will be operating on the BSL-1 level to complete the experiments for this class. 3. What document should you refer to if you have questions regarding the safety or disposal of a chemical?
