HUNTER COLLEGE OF THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK THE SCHOOLS OF THE HEALTH PROFESSIONS HUNTER-BELLEVUE SCHOOL OF NURSING Course: NURS 210 Title: Nursing Fundamentals and Health Assessment Catalog Description: Introduction to Nursing fundamentals, physical examination, history taking and documentation. Course Description: This course is designed to provide students with the tools required to perform a comprehensive physical assessment and review of a patient’s history. Students will learn inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion techniques. Emphasis is placed upon assessment of the well person with common health problems. Health promotion and maintenance strategies are highlighted for all age groups. The course will introduce students to the nursing process, principles of infection control and safety promotion.
