There are several ethical dilemmas in the given scenario that need to be addressed. The first potential ethical dilemma is related to autonomy. Jamilah, although she is 90 years old, has the capacity and the right to make decisions regarding her own healthcare and what she wants. The fact that she has verbally expressed a desire to live, sets the expectation that the hospital performs their duty of care and honor Jamilah’s wishes.
