, 1. HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING
In this section a description will be given of the organization and its goals. The business environment
will also be discussed, in which the following topics will be further explained: market analysis,
competitors, societal and technical developments and the developments on the labor market. At last the
human resource philosophy will be explained in detail.

1.1 Organization and goals

Heineken is a large Dutch brewing company, founded in 1864 by Gerard Adriaan Heineken in
Amsterdam. By brewing and selling high quality beers to more than 190 countries and by employing
about 85.000 employees, it is one of the largest, international brewing companies in the world. The
headquarter of Heineken is located in Amsterdam. Heineken is striving to produce as sustainably as
possible in diverse regions and is continuously searching for new market opportunities and consumer
trends. As a market leader, Heineken aims for sustainable growth, in which the company can expand
and optimize its product portfolio, thereby mentioning innovation as a key component. Heineken wants
to grow its business in a consistent sustainable manner, while constantly improving its profitability. To
reach this, Heineken focuses on the following five business priorities. Connecting in the digital world,
engaging and developing their employees, brewing in a sustainable way, delivering increased
efficiencies across the whole business and aiming to lead the premium beer and cider segments across
the world. These ‘business priorities’ are part of Heineken to reach their ultimate goal: delivering
continuous growth and shareholder value in a sustainable way. They want to make a positive
contribution to the environment, local communities and society (‘The Heineken Company’, 2021).
