One of the dilemmas I came across was that Mr. Gomez kept asking that his oxygen be turned up, but the nurse/doctor kept it down due to high oxygen settings hurting COPD patients in the long run (because it can cause respiratory acidosis and even death). This is an example of beneficence even though it goes against what Mr Gomez wants (autonomy). () 2. One “aha” moment I experienced was realizing why it is appropriate to have a low oxygen setting for COPD patients due to them being chronic CO2 retainers. 3. What are some aspects of client care that you did not feel prepared to make clinical decisions for in the scenario? a. I felt prepared to make all of the decisions in this scenario.
