, Managing Organizations and Leading People
Task 2

The success or failure of an organization is intrinsically linked to the conduct and character of its
leadership. The behaviors, attitudes, and overarching styles that leaders exhibit cast a long
shadow, profoundly influencing everything from employee morale and productivity to the very
ethical fabric of the institution. Effective leadership can galvanize a workforce, fostering an
environment of innovation and collaboration that propels an organization toward its strategic
objectives. Conversely, toxic leadership can dismantle an organization from within, creating a
culture of fear and mistrust that paralyzes progress and ultimately leads to decline. This paper
will evaluate the critical ways in which leadership behaviors shape the pursuit of organizational
goals. It will begin by dissecting specific toxic leadership behaviors and their detrimental effects
on effectiveness, culture, and ethics. Subsequently, it will recommend preventative actions to
mitigate these risks and foster a healthier environment. Finally, it will analyze how the use of
power and influence, whether positive or negative, directly correlates with an organization's
ability to achieve its most critical goals.

creativity.
o Specific Example: A marketing manager insists on proofreading every social
media post before publication. Rather than providing general guidelines and
trusting the social media specialist's expertise, the manager edits posts for minor
