WHICH CHANNEL IS BEST?
There have been many times in my life that I believe I have used the wrong
channel while communicating, but the one time that sticks out the most in my
memory is when I was working at a Pharmacy and was having serious
management and staff issues. I had just stepped into a new role as a Pharmacy
Technician for the first time in my life which was a confidence booster for me
because I did not think I would be any good at it. At the same time, I began this
role, there were significant changes going on within the Pharmacy and changes
with management and the system. Not only were these changes happening but
currently we are living in a global pandemic and pharmacies are very important
right now, especially with the vaccine being administered. The other staff
members and I were having serious issues with the main manager and when trying
to convey our issues to the HR department we used some wrong channels of
communication and created a bigger problem than were intended.
I was in the position of Pharmacy Tech in Training being this was all new
for me and I had no idea what I was doing. The tech above me, also known as the
lead tech, was only in her position for a few months when I got hired. I had
worked here for about 3 months at this point and was starting to learn everything
on my own as no one was really training me. The new lead tech did not know
what she was supposed to be doing in her new role as things were changing and
