Proposed Nursing Service Idea and Importance
There is an increase in demand for home health and hospice services in the
nursing profession. The rise in demand is due to the increase in the aging
population, and this has created the demand for offering compassionate and
comprehensive care to the end of their life. Research shows a shift in healthcare
costs to home care and hospice services, estimated to increase by 25% by 2025
(Dombi, Lowenstein & Yarbrough, 2022). It leads to the shift of the healthcare
model from traditional services to home care without reducing the accessibility of
the services or quality of care. With more patients moving towards home care, there
has been an increase in the experience, improving the demand for the services.
With the changes in the health care offering, the focus is on evaluating the
critical options for the patient's health. The assessment ensures that patients with
long-term and post-acute needs are well taken care of and that the families
considering this service choose the institution. The institution will embrace the
offering of home care and hospice services depending on the needs of the patients.
The services will be modified to meet the growing changes in the patient's
preferences, and this is done through an assessment of the preference to offer the
services at home or in an institution. Implementing the home and hospice care
services will require refined leadership skills to create and successfully run this
business. Leadership skills needed to implement this idea would be collaborative
and team-building skills to be able to hire adequate staff members and effectively
train them, refined finance skills to be able to secure funding and manage the

budget, effective communication skills to build trust and respect as well as to
adequately convey expectations, expert decision-making skills as leaders need to be
diligent in making wise choices, and a working knowledge of technology as the rise
of technology in healthcare is one of the industry’s major trends.
The diverse staffing model for this project will include licensed nurses,
nurse techs, and therapists to perform a wide range of medical and daily living
services. Other staff members would consist of managers and supervisors to help
manage staff, bookkeepers to manage the finances, marketers to promote the
business, a staffing coordinator to maintain staff schedules, and a quality
coordinator to create and implement policies.
Market Analysis
Home care and hospice services are known to assist in minimizing costs
while offering compassionate services to patients. For patients in the last course of
their treatment or life, especially where the disease is incurable, the focus is on
providing hospice services and ensuring that the quality of life is upheld. The
market is quickly expanding, which is attributed to the increase in demand for home
care services, especially in pain management. The offering of home care and
hospice services is done in various settings, and skilled nurses do this. It has led to
the addressing of the multiple needs of the patients, and this increases the quality of
the emotional and physical health of the patients. The market is fragmented into
different options that are available to the patients, and this helps provide the options
to the patients. Statistics show that there are over 6,000 hospice programs in the
