1. Context
a) Problem to Address:
A challenge that needs to be addressed is the decline of reading motivation
and stamina amongst students. Unfortunately, students are struggling to meet
the expectations to read for extended periods of time and/or have a challengin
g time picking texts for themselves that are appropriate for their own growth.
When I take my students up to the library, I often have to encourage students t
o pick a text that is more Lexile appropriate and struggle with building their in
dependent reading skills in the classroom. I found a study that analyzed how a
