, Introduction

This report outlines the implications involved in the design of an Internet of Things (IoT)

software application for YODAE's K-12 educational environments, focusing on security and

privacy. It will detail various IoT devices, their architecture, potential vulnerabilities, and

proposed solutions to enhance confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Technology Overview

IoT Devices

YODAE offers several IoT devices designed to improve classroom management and student

learning experiences in K-12 schools. These devices include voice-activated virtual personal

assistants, handheld student devices, IoT whiteboards, IoT smart speakers, and IoT smart

cameras. The integration of IoT in education aims to create safer learning environments and

provide advanced learning opportunities for students.

 Voice-activated virtual personal assistants are IoT devices used by teachers and school

staff. These devices enable users to activate features via voice, connect to the internet for

information, and create lesson plans that link to the cloud. In classrooms, these VPAs can

integrate with interactive whiteboards, offering voice control and content generation to

improve teaching efficiency.

 IoT whiteboards are electronic whiteboards that include educational games for specific

lessons and can be interactive through AI voice recognition. These devices can transform

any traditional whiteboard into an interactive one when paired with a classroom computer

and projector, enabling whole-class learning. Interactive whiteboards can also include AI

video and audio capabilities, along with multiple cameras, to boost collaboration.
