Tell me about yourself?
1.) I've worked as a registered sleep technologist for five years at Noran Neurological Clinic
in MPLS. The thing that interested me the most about becoming a sleep tech was the
technical aspect of it and the one-on-one interactions I'd have with the patients. I also thought
learning about sleep disorders was just a unique and interesting area.
It was there that I really developed a desire for nursing while working with the patients there
in the unique population that I worked with. I knew that I wanted to be more involved in
overall care. But, it was during my time there that I learned:

couple of hospitals working in med-surg and ICU/tele

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
1.) I would want to be on a neuro unit and really master it through the first couple of years.
2.) I also expect to finish my BSN within the three years
3.) During the third year I would like to work towards having my CNRN (certified
neuroscience registered nurse)
4.) Throughout the years I'd like to hone my leadership skills and work towards working as a
charge nurse
What do you find rewarding about this job?
, I find this position rewarding for several reasons:
- You get to work with patients and their family members who are in a point of their life that
is life changing and requires a lot of emotional support and education (I enjoy providing
knowledge and learning about complex disorders myself). I've been told that professional
holistic care is a strength of mine.
- I love that neuro patients are dynamic and will challenge your assessment skills and make
you a better nurse
- I would love being a part of a hospital that sets the Gold Standard for care worldwide for the
good of others
Why did you decide on a career as a nurse?
- Working with patients at Noran Clinic as a sleep technologist gave me a desire to be more
involved in overall care and in advocating for patients
- I find a lot reward in understanding and helping patients.
- I've always found joy in helping others. I get a lot of satisfaction out of making people
comfortable. When there's a need, I see it and act on it. It's just a small example, but as a
sleep technologist I've come across many distressed patients. If I sensed distress in a patient
while rooming them and explaining the process of what to expect with a sleep study I would
offer them a bottle of cold water and then when I returned I'd smile and say I understand the
process can be intimidating. Do you have any concerns that I can help with?

S - Yeah I remember during my clinicals I had a patient who had history of amphetamine
abuse who was relatively young, she was about 45 or so. C- anyways, the situation was she
didn't want me to do my assessments because she wanted to sleep in.
