Intern Project
Texas Teachers of Tomorrow
TNT 700.8P THE INSTRUCTIONAL CYCLE – Internship Project
I am using data to plan instruction in Art Unit. The targeted TEK(S) for this lesson is §117.108
1A) perception of shape and form. 1B) understand balance and proportion. 2A) Expressing
individual ideas. 2B0 Experiment to understand drawing and painting. 4A explore, examine, and
evaluate personal artwork and 4B apply art knowledge, judgment, and personal choice.
The students' class objective is to be able to quickly sketch various body poses using proper
proportion but no details. Leaning on biology and anatomy learned in their homeroom class and
from seeing themselves and other people in the world. To identify the differences in the size and
shape. Maintain a clear understanding of when a limb closes over another or is in front of or
behind the body. During class, I instructed the class through a draw along using an overhead cam
that is displayed by the TV. I use a photo for reference and quickly demonstrate the execution of
my Tornado Person using Scribble Sketch technique. I explained each step and then allowed the
students to complete the step. All students were accountable for completing the work and for
developing the bravery to try.
The formative assessment I gave was part 1 of a 2-part lesson in which students will create
Tinfoil People, place them in various poses and attempt to translate those poses into Tornado
People on their paper and label the pose.
After students folded their paper into 8 equal parts, they sat facing me as I demonstrated using
the cam displayed by the TV and followed the steps:
1. Observe the pose of the pictured figure we will sketch, discus what is bent, if something
is crossing in front or extended etc.
2. In one of the 8 spaces do a demo sketch of a tornado that resembles the torso. Wide
solders to narrow hips or whatever resemble the figure.
3. Then scribble sketch tornados for legs and arms, focusing on proportions of the body.
Thighs and arms start wide and narrow out to the ends, bends should be sharp as they
would be for knees or elbows etc. Hands and feet can be sketched as circles and ovals.
4. After my initial demonstration I have the students scribble sketch their own tornado
person from the same pictured pose I did mine from, using my demonstration as a
