Jared lives in an upper-middle-class neighborhood in Virginia. He lives with his mother and stepfather. He has a half-sister and a stepmother on his
father’s side. His biological father is in the army and is currently stationed in Kuwait. He has a good relationship with his father and talks to him on
the phone and spends time with him when he is in the States. Although his stepmother and half-sister are pushing for a relationship with Jared, his
mother has not allowed them to see him. His mother is a recovering alcoholic and works as a registered nurse overnight at the local hospital. His
stepfather is a police officer and a current alcoholic who also has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder but refuses medication. He does not have any
friends but considers his cousin his best friend and often spends weekends at his aunt’s house. His aunt and grandmother were his safe house when
things were rough at home. However, his grandmother moved into a nursing home, and his aunt and cousin moved away.

frustrated. He presents as “a very angry little boy” as noted by his teachers and the school principal. There have been two occasions in the last two
months where Jared displayed physical aggression by throwing a chair across the classroom. After each incident, he broke into tears and was very
apologetic. He occasionally gets hurt trying to protect his mother
Current stressors
Jared does not have a safe space anymore due to his grandmother being in a nursing home and his aunt moving. His stepfather is abusive and an
alcoholic; he might have undiagnosed autism.

Aggressive behavior, cursing, extremely emotional, trouble learning.
