This research explores how consumers in Pakistan's three major urban cities—Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad—compare shopping through Instagram and Facebook Shops with shopping on the established online marketplace D With the rapid growth of internet access, smartphone usage, and digital payment systems, online shopping has become an important part of daily life. Consumers now have multiple options for purchasing products, but their choices are influenced by factors such as trust, product quality, pricing, convenience, delivery services, payment methods, customer reviews, and return policies. The purpose of this study is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both shopping channels and understand the reasons behind consumer preferences. The research also examines how demographic factors such as age, education, income, and digital literacy influence online buying behavior. By focusing on Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, the study highlights the shopping patterns of consumers living in Pakistan's largest urban centers. Furthermore, this research discusses the challenges faced by online shoppers, including fraud, fake products, delayed deliveries, and lack of consumer protection. It also evaluates how platforms such as D build customer trust through verified sellers, secure payment systems, and buyer protection policies, while social media shops attract customers through direct communication, personalized service, and competitive pricing. The findings of this research will help students, researchers, business owners, and policymakers better understand Pakistan's evolving e-commerce industry. The study also provides practical recommendations for improving customer satisfaction, increasing consumer trust, and supporting the future growth of online shopping in Pakistan.Yeh description research report ke liye professional au.r.1st Year (Intermediate) level ke mutqubig. hai.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid growth of internet access and smartphone usage has significantly transformed consumer shopping habits
in Pakistan. Urban centers such as Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad have experienced remarkable growth in online
shopping due to increasing digital awareness, affordable internet services, and the expansion of e-commerce
platforms. Today, consumers have two primary options for online shopping: social media platforms such as
Instagram and Facebook Shops , and established online marketplaces such as Daraz. This research investigates how
consumers compare these two shopping methods. It examines the major factors influencing purchasing decisions,
including trust, product quality, pricing, payment methods, delivery services, customer support, return policies,
convenience , and online reviews. The study also evaluates how demographic factors such as age, education,
income, and digital literacy affect consumer preferences. The research is based on secondary data collected from
academic journals, industry reports, government publications, and reliable online sources. The findings suggest that
Instagram and Facebook Shops are preferred for personalized products, fashion items, and direct communication
with sellers, whereas Daraz is generally preferred for electronics, branded products, and expensive purchases
because of its secure payment system, verified sellers, customer reviews, and buyer protection policies. The study
concludes that both social media commerce and online marketplaces play important roles in Pakistan's digital
economy. Improving consumer trust, digital payment systems, logistics, and customer service will further strengthen
the country's e- commerce sector and encourage sustainable online business growth.
