What are the Workplace conflicts?
After reading this case study there is a quite a bit to unpack regarding conflicts
that are going on in the office. First things first Erica has some internal and external
conflicts going on in her own life to start off with the external conflict she is allowing
work and life to smush together with her dad being terminally sick its no wonder she is
distracted. She also just started in this position about a year ago, so she is new to these
workload and problems faced as a team lead.
Next is Michael who comes from a wealthy background, this can look very
intimidating to other employees, especially since Michael is always trying to get his
coworkers to go along with him to events and such. This seems nice but after being
invited to a few sports games that you can afford it starts to feel like he is showing off his
wealth. This can also be a problem in the workplace since people may think he paid his
way to his position rather than working for it as they had to.
Janelle is a workaholic, she doesn’t know what a good balance between work and
life is, she is married and still works late at the office. Hard work isn’t bad until it starts
affecting your personal life, a job is a job and will be there tomorrow, family, and
personal life should be now.
Timothy has some resentment towards Erica due to her receiving the position
offer over him. This can lead to all types of problems in the workplace, Timothy can take
the upper hand and do his best or he can choose to not help to make Erica look bad to win
him the spot of team lead. There is a lot of negative when you have work conflict due to
position change. Timothy is also trying to learn the balance of workplace versus personal
life. He has two children that need their dad at home.
