A. Sentinel City Action Report
For this action report, I will be assessing the virtual community known as Sentinel City.
B. Needs Assessment
A demographics tool was used to survey Sentinel City compressing data using
demographics assessments, community assessment windshield survey, neighborhood safety
assessment, and population health scavenger hunt. These tools identified data needed to conduct
necessary research within sentinel city.
Demographics
‘Within Sentinel City, there are four neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has statistical
data used to identify information needed to conduct the demographics assessment. The four
communities include Nightingale Square, Acer Tech, Casper Park, and Industrial Heights. The
overall population of Sentinel City is 663,862, of which 103,974 residents reside in the
Nightingale Square neighborhood (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020). The people of Acer Tech
is 168,390, and the population of Casper Park District is 352,643, while the Industrial heights
population is 38,855. The people of Sentinel City have grown in the past two years by 9.6%
(Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Sentinel City's population is composed mainly of people between the age of 18 years of
age and 65 years of age. A smaller number of people are below the age of 18 at 21.7%, and 7.4%
of people below the age of 5 years of age (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020). 10.5% of
individuals are above the age of 65 (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020). Caucasian individuals
are the prime population of Sentinel City with 80.6%, followed by African Americans at 10.4%
(Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020). Sentinel City comprises 2% Asian Americans, 2% American

Indians, 0.2% Hawaiian Americans, and 3.1% biracial individuals (Interactive Courses & Labs,
2020). The median household income is $49,091with 18.9% of individuals in Sintel City living
below the poverty level (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Nightingale Square, a neighborhood in Sentinel City, has a median household income in
this area is $269,550. The percentage of non-insured residents in this neighborhood is 0.7%
(Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Acer Tech Center is another neighborhood in Sentinel City. The median household
income in this area $166,300. The percentage of non-insured residents in this neighborhood is
1.5% (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Casper Park District is another neighborhood in Sentinel City. The median household
income in this area $80,134. The percentage of non-insured residents in this neighborhood is
22.7% (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Industrial Heights is another neighborhood in Sentinel City. The median household
income in this area $24,672. The percentage of non-insured residents in this neighborhood is
37.5% (Interactive Courses & Labs, 2020).
Neighborhood Safety Assessment
During the neighborhood safety assessment, I noted several hazards that caught my
attention. Some of the dangers I mentioned were improperly disposed garbage on the sidewalks,
graffiti on the sides of buildings, broken down cars on side streets, stray animals and rodents on
sidewalks throughout the city protestors outside of City Hall. There was a police presence within
the city. Some buildings are boarded up and in despair. Prisoners were cleaning up trash within
Casper Park District.
