introduction statement: the design I am studying is a dress created in 2009 as a part of the
Platos Atlantis Collection. designed by Alexander McQueen


Describe the function of the dress ( attention) : The purpose of this dress was to be seen from a catwalk and red
carpet to attract attention. McQueen achieved this by the form fitted
dress and the eye catching digitally printed layers of reptile skin
when printed onto the silk created a sense of movement.


Describe the function of the dress ( world of The purpose of this dress and collection was to get the world of
fashion ) : fashion talking. He achieved this by his clever use of digital printing
on to the silk fabric and the dramatic patterns achieved through the
layering of the silk.
