INTRODUCTION
, Hydralazine (antihypertensive) is the only
medication approved by the FDA that has an
indication specific to ethnicity. Hydralazine is
approved as a medication for the treatment of
hypertension and heart failure in African Americans.
Due to genetics, hypertension is more prevalent
and, often, more difficult to treat in the African
American community. With any race or gender,
lifestyle modifications, dietary changes and weight
management should be encouraged.
