Answer:
· Acts in reproductive tissue to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, and enzyme that
converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is the active
form of testosterone in the prostate.
· Treatment reduces levels of DHT in blood by 70% (but does not reduce
testosterone levels).
· By decreasing DHT, it promotes regression of epithelial tissue thereby
decreases mechanical obstruction of urethra.

and sphincter), prostate capsule, and prostatic urethra, thereby decreasing
dynamic obstruction of urethra. Symptomatic improvement of urinary flow
develops rapidly.
· Used for mild prostatic enlargement. TO be taken lifelong.
