Schacter-Singer Model (1962)
-a disorder of disconnect between emotion & cognition
-capgras syndrome-arthur; young man, got in a car accident and was in a coma for 3
weeks. He awoke, was able to learn to walk again and talk again. Seemed normal.
There was one huge problem though. He thought his parents were imposters. he
wouldn't think it was his parents unless he first talked to the them on the phone. he
trusted their voices. however, after about 30 minutes of being with them, he would get
very uncomfortable because he thought they were imposters. he couldn't look at
them without thinking they were imposters
-normal in every sense
-failure to (visually) recognize family members and friends
-assume they're imposters
