Wereldwijd zijn er grote veranderingen gaande, op vele perspectieven.
Instituties kunnen met veel verschillende definities omschreven worden. Instituties
worden door Douglas North als regels gezien, de spelregels in een samenleving. Regels zijn
er overal om ons heen en vormen vaak ook als norm ons leven. Wij weten hoe wij ons
moeten gedragen in onze cultuur en kleden en gedragen ons daarnaar. Zo heeft elke cultuur
zijn eigen regels, normen en waarden. Instituties verminderen ‘onzekerheid door structuur te
bieden aan het dagelijks leven’. Instituties worden onderscheidt in:
- Formal institutions zijn de vaste geschreven regels als stoppen voor een stoplicht,
anders krijg je een boete.
- Informal institutions kunnen omschreven worden als ongeschreven regels oftewel
normen. Wij als mens gedragen ons hiernaar en leren dit van de mensen om ons
heen.
