6 Articles of Faith (Sunni Islam)
Tawhid
● Oneness of God and the belief in only one God.
Malaikah
● Angels were the first creation of God.
● God does not communicate directly with people but communicates with prophets via angels. (Risalah)
Kutub
● Belief in the Holy books and respect for them.
● Especially the Quran which is the unchanged word of God.
Nubuwwa
● Belief in the prophets.
● The prophets should be respected but never worshipped in the same way as God.
Akhira
● Belief in the afterlife and the day of Judgement.
● Life on earth is a test in which it will be determined whether you go to paradise or hell.
Al Qadr
● Belief in predestination.
● This means everything in one's life is already predetermined to abide by Allahs masterplan.
● Muhammad told his followers there is not one of you who has not been allotted his seat in heaven or hell.
Mnemonic

5 Roots of Usul ad Din (Shi'a Islam)
Tawhid
● Oneness of God.
Adalat
● Divine Justice, which means Allah is always right and fair.
● Sometimes Allah acts in ways that exceeds human understanding but ultimately the world has been
designed to be fair.
● Shi'a also believe in the day of judgement at which they will be judged fairly.
Nubbuwa
● The prophets, provide guidance from God and should be respected.
● Muhammad was Gods final prophet.
Imamate
● Authority of the imams, the imams are 12 Shi'a Muslims who were chosen to lead the faith after
Muhammad.
Al-Ma'ad
● Day of resurrection, this is the belief that all Muslims will be resurrected and judged by God.

● Angels praise God and cannot sin — they are divine.
