Audience: Department LPO’s
Subject line: Oak Harbor Training Center, Site and Safety Standardization
Inspection, December 6 and 7, 2024.
Good morning, Department Leading Petty Officers (LPO’s).
I am assigned as the point of contact (POC) for the upcoming Site and Safety
Standardization Inspection (SSSI) on December 6 and 7, 2024. I wanted to
ensure some transparency concerning the SSSI dates. Please communicate
these dates to your department and ensure you support your sailors in
completing their tasks/requirements.
Training jackets and Survival Egress Air (SEA) bottles shall be marked
appropriately “For Training Use Only (FTUO).” In the past, we had "paint
parties" or something of the sort to get as many individuals as possible to
help stamp FTUO on all gear and SEA bottles. I am unsure of a different plan,
but I wanted to give you something to consider.
The director finished the pre-inspection. He has already pointed out some
discrepancies. We have addressed these items for correction. Please ensure
everyone addresses or filters up discrepancies before Close of Business
(COB) on December 1, 2024, to your Division Officer (DIVO) or myself, the
POC. We are standing by to support you and your Sailors.
Very Respectfully,
Javier SandovalMilan
Naval Medical Operation Training Center (NMOTC)
Master Training Specialist (MTS) Coordinator.

Cross-cultural communication reflection:
Use proper “dates” format due to the nature of this email; providing
information about inspection dates and submission “deadlines” will
avoid any confusion.
I explain the acronyms” used to avoid any misinformation for new
personnel on the command unfamiliar with such acronyms used.
I make sure I use “Gender inclusive” pronouns; sometimes, new
personnel will be added to the e-mail chain, so using the term Sailors
will include all of them.
