1.1 Designing a Cross-Disciplinary Creative Arts Project
Climate change is a very big problem that affects our world today, and it is important
that we teach our children about it in a way that they can truly understand and care
about deeply. One of the best ways to do this is through the arts because art helps us to
feel things and to share our feelings with others in a way that words alone sometimes
cannot. For this project, I will combine Visual Arts and Drama to help Grade 4 learners
explore climate change and the environment in a fun and meaningful way that will stay
with them for a long time.
The project is called "Our Earth, Our Story: A Creative Response to Climate
Change," and in this project, learners will work together to create art and drama that
tells the important story of our planet. They will start by learning about environmental
problems in their own community, like littering on the streets, wasting water at home, or
throwing away too much rubbish. Then they will think about bigger problems like global
