techniques and general exercising.

She is black African and Caribbean. Her parents came from Jamica and
Nigeria. She is a strong Christian and goes church weekly. She has a learning
impairment which is dyslexia, which can sometimes be a struggle as she is a
primary school teacher. When she was 1 she got diagnosed with asthma and
ever since has been a struggle for her and cant take part of running activities.



Patient history – how was the patient diagnosed?

Nadia was diagnosed with asthma when she was 12. Prior to that both her
parents had asthma so it was known she may develop it. When it came to her
diagnosis, the GP noticed symptoms like shortness of breath, wheezing,

, always out of breath when walking up a flight of stairs and her chest was
always feeling tight. Nadia’s symptoms may of been triggered by high levels
of pollution or mold. This can be caused since when she was young she lived
in a two bedroom flat with mold on the walls.

During her GP check ups they did a spirometry test. This test is done to
diagnose asthma. This is determine how strong Nadia’s lungs are, she would
take a deep breath and breath out into a tube connected to the spirometer.
This records both the amount of air she exhales and how quickly she exhales.
Doing this would of heled the Doctors to examine whether or not she has
asthma.
