Direct versus Indirect taxes


DIRECT TAXES:

• Taxes imposed on individuals, companies and other taxpayers
• Examples:
o Income taxes (Personal Income Taxes are the biggest revenue to the government

o Wealth taxes
§ Not in SA, but levied through things like Transfer Duties instead
