Hamida's mother tongue is Konkani, a language spoken mainly in Goa but also in other

1.1 Explain how Hamida's different mother tongue identities (origin, internal
identification and external identification) may influence her learning experiences
in the Foundation Phase.
Hamida has different mother tongue identities which affect her learning. Her origin
identity is Konkani, which is her family language. But she does not actually speak
Konkani well. Her internal identity is English because that is the language she feels
close to. Her external identity is also English because others see her as an English
