Simple meaning:

It includes:

●​ Body language (facial expressions, posture)
●​ Gestures (pointing, nodding)
●​ Images (pictures, signs, charts)
●​ Tone, silence, environment

Example (policing):

●​ A police officer smiling = friendly & approachable
●​ Arms crossed + no eye contact = unfriendly or uninterested
