- Voorkwab/adenohypofyse
- Achterkwab/neurohypofyse
- Hypofysesteel: verbinding tussen neurohypofyse met hypothalamus via zenuwen

Poortadersysteem: 2 capillairnetwerken achter elkaar
1ste capillairnetwerk: overgang van hypothalamus naar hypofysesteel
2de capillairnetwerk: in adenohypofyse

Poortadersysteem maakt mogelijk om boodschapperstoffen te transporteren van
hypothalamus naar adenohypofyse
1ste: afgegeven aan bloedbaan 2de: onttrokken van bloedbaan

Neurohypofyse heeft afzonderlijk capillair netwerk

HYPOTHALAMUS

Secretie van hormonen door adenohypofyse  regulatie: serie hormonen van
hypothalamus afkomstig

- TRH: thyreotropin releasing hormone, afgifte TSH
- CRH: corticotropin releasing hormone, afgifte ACTH
- GnRH: gonadrotropin releasing hormone: afgifte LH(ICSH) & FSH
- GRH: growth hormone releasing hormone, afgifte GH
- GIH: growht hormone inhibiting hormone, remmen GH
- PRH: prolactin releasing hormone, afgifte prolactine
- PIH: prolactin inhibiting hormone, remmen prolactine

Via poortadersysteem terecht in adenohypofyse waar ze regulerende werking uitoefenen
