Guidance for Virtual Residency Assignment
The Basics:
e Prior to completing the assignment, you must have the consent signed and uploaded
e Video can be no more than 30 minutes AND cannot be edited (must be taped in one
continuous session)
The video should be recorded using Panopto
When setting up the video, make sure that you and the participant will be clearly seen
Remember to speak to describe what you are performing during the physical exam
Your “patient” can use a cheat sheet
o They can ad lib any information not provided
e Prior to submission:
o make sure you can hear the audio clearly
o make sure the physical exam is always in full view
o save the video using your name and section number
Subjective details:
e Chief complaint
HPI with “OLDCARTS”
Past Medical / Surgical History
Last Menstrual Period (even if your participant is male!)
Medications — name, dosages, frequency and last taken
Allergies
Social History
Family History (mother, father, siblings, and grandparents)
Review of Systems
o use this as an opportunity to review symptoms and identify pertinent positives and
negatives
Objective details:
e Vital signs
o You do not need to “take” the vital signs, but you should state what they are
o Can ad lib these
e Physical exam
o This is a focused assessment
= All body systems should be assessed, but the systems affected by the chief
complaint should be examined most thoroughly
