Farmacokinetiek: verschillende deelprocessen
- absorptie: geneesmiddel niet rechtstreeks in bloedbaan toedienen → transport naar systemische circulatie nodig
- Unidirectioneel proces van opname van plaats van toediening naar bloed

Geneesmiddel in bloedbaan zal in min of meerdere mate binden aan plasmaproteinen (vnl albumine & alfa 1 zuur glycoproteïne)
Standaard is gnm meer vetoplosbaar → vaker sterker eiwitgebonden (w meer wateroplosbaar door binding op albumine)
Gebonden geneesmiddel kan niet migreren uit bloedbaan
Sterk eiwitgebonden geneesmiddel → neiging om te distribueren is tegenwerkende factor
Vetoplosbare neiging om meer te verspreiden naar weefsels
Wel bidirectioneel proces: communicerende vaten

Enkel ongebonden geneesmiddel kan w geëlimineerd < 2 processen
- Metabolisatie of biotransformatie < chemische modificatie → meer wateroplosbaar gemaakt → metabolieten, leidt meestal tot inactivatie → excretie
- Excretie van onveranderde vorm of dus na metabolisatie
