Effective Values-Based Leader

This research shows that perspective is being able to give wise counsel to others and having plans
of looking at the Globe that make sense to oneself or others. I have mentored many young boys
while volunteering with my church youth program. Through this I have used the strength of
perspective to help them work though issues and to show them different ways to see certain
circumstances that they find themselves in. This has led to many challenging conversations and
growth in both myself, and those I’m helping.
a.
Being a leader entails considering perspective as a crucial aspect. I believe that by being able to
understand and empathize with my employees, I can establish a trusting relationship with them.
This includes sharing in their accomplishments and struggles. Furthermore, I would make sure to
utilize perspective in giving feedback and conducting performance reviews. This way, my
employees can receive helpful insights and guidance on how to improve their work.
2.
Being stronger in social intelligence could have helped me in many different situations. One
situation would have been when I first started college right after high school. I struggled a lot with
making friends in this new place and wasn’t good at fitting in with different social situations. I
ended up doing a lot of things on my own and struggled to ask for help when it was needed. Being
stronger in it would have given me the courage to interject myself into those social situations and
make friends who I could have relied on for help.
a.
By enhancing my social intelligence, I can gain a deeper understanding of the people around me
and establish better connections with them. This skill set will also enhance my values-driven
leadership, as it enables me to view my team members as individuals instead of just employees. A
profound sense of social intelligence in the workplace can also assist me in identifying what
motivates my employees and using these to encourage them.
