Guidelines for Asbestos Disposal:
1. No new construction using asbestos in any form either as a structural or insulating material is
permitted in the unit.
2. Where old asbestos installations are to be dismantled, work must be done by competent
service provider having trained workmen provided with fitting and well- maintained dust
masks.
3. All asbestos containing material in friable condition (such as insulating materials and roofing
sheets that are crumbled pulverized or reduced to powder) should be maintained in fully
wetted condition, bagged and deep buried (minimum 6 feet below finished grade level).
4. Unit should not use compressed asbestos fibre (CAF) gaskets, asbestos ropes and packing. If
these are in use, a time bound plan for phased replacement must be available.
