Question 2.1
Changed marking guidelines from ‘2 or 0’ to split marks:
Penalise with 1 mark for each of the underlined phrases omitted from the definition, to a maximum
of 2 marks penalised.
The definition is therefore marked as follows:
When a resultant/net force acts on an object, the object will accelerate in the direction of the force at
acceleration directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
Added alternative option: The net/resultant force acting on an object is equal to the rate of change
of momentum of the object in the direction of the net force.
Question 2.2
Marking guideline added: penalise with 1 mark for each of the following:
• Extra forces
• No arrows
• Forces do not touch dot
Question 2.3.1
Marking guideline adjusted: first mark (𝑁𝑁 = 𝐹𝐹𝑔𝑔 ) moved to substitution of 𝑚𝑚 × 𝑔𝑔 (5 × 9.8).
Question 3.1.1
Marking guideline added: accept ‘zero’ – unit not needed if answer given in words.
Question 3.1.2
Marking guideline added: penalise if answer given as negative – must be value and unit with direction
in words.
Question 3.2
Marking guideline adjusted: moved fourth mark from intermediate answer to addition.
Question 3.3
Marking guideline correction: changed positive marking reference from question 3.3 to 3.2.
Marking guideline correction: changed final answer symbol to 𝑣𝑣𝑓𝑓 instead of 𝑣𝑣𝑓𝑓2 .
Alternative added:
𝑣𝑣𝑓𝑓2 = 𝑣𝑣𝑖𝑖2 + 2𝑎𝑎∆𝑥𝑥
= (4)2 + 2(−9,8)(80)
= 39,80 𝑚𝑚. 𝑠𝑠 −1

Question 3.4
Marking guideline added: positive marking from question 3.3.
Question 4.1
Marking guideline adjusted: due to ambiguity in the question regarding the positions of points A, B,
and C on the graph, the mark allocation was revised. No marks were awarded for the explanation of
points A, B, and C. Marks were only awarded for point D, as follows: D: highest point (maximum
height) ball reaches after first bounce
Question 4.4
Marking guideline correction: last coordinate given on graph corrected from 47,775 to 30,63.
Marking guideline adjusted: final mark was changed to assess the shape of the graph:
• 1 mark for drawing the first curve
• 1 mark for the second curve, only if it is smaller than the first curve.
Question 5.1
Marking guideline correction: changed ‘closed system’ in definition to ‘isolated system’, since ‘closed
system’ is no longer accepted in the final exam.
Changed marking guidelines from ‘2 or 0’ to split marks:
Penalise with 1 mark for each of the underlined phrases omitted from the definition, to a maximum
of 2 marks penalised.
The definition is therefore marked as follows:
The total (linear) momentum of an isolated system remains constant (is conserved).
Question 5.4.1
Alternative added: A collision during which kinetic energy (Ek) is not conserved.
Question 6.1
Marking guideline added: Since this is a hypothesis, any relationship between velocity and time is
acceptable, whether it is correct or not.
Question 6.2.1
Marking guideline added: accept symbol (𝑣𝑣𝑖𝑖 ).
Question 6.2.2
Marking guideline added: accept symbol (𝑡𝑡).
Question 6.3
Marking guideline adjusted: moved first mark from formula to substitution of mass.
Question 6.4
Marking guideline correction: no mark allocation provided, therefore added the following marking
guideline as follows:
Heading
x- and y-axis with unit
3 points plotted correctly
line of best fit
line of best fit goes through origin (0; 0)
