Often Learners that develop feelings of uncertainty or anxiety. Learners may be experiencing feelings of
uncertainty for a various of reasons from loss of friendships or partnership to experiencing real clinical levels of
anxiety that needs a medical attention. These Learners have access to a peer support specialist that will assess
them and know if they just need to talk to someone like herself or if they require a referral to a clinical therapist
and psychiatrist.
Staff may receive phone calls from parents, guardians that their child is cutting. Cutting is a serious
matter that requires a clinical intervention. A Learners that is cutting in school will be referred to the health
facility, the health clerk aide will check the cuts, clean them, and place bandages (treat them). At that point
parents would be told about the cutting. If the learner is making statements of suicidal thought administration
staff call Riverside County Mental Health and they send the "Mobile Crisis Response Team "(MCRT) that
team then works with the youth to determine if they require transfer to the hospital for danger to self [5150],
danger to others, to be voluntarily placed in the hospital, or referrals to community based mental health facility.
