1. Prevent theft, misappropriation, or concealment of goods, wares, merchandise, money,
bonds, stock certificates, or other valuable documents, papers, articles.
2. Prevent damage to real or personal property
3. Prevent assaults, gate crashing, or other disorders at meetings, events, or performances.
4. Prevent similar illegal occurrences.
The term "Security Officer" includes the following - ANSWER Uniformed individuals
employed by a security agency or other employer for any of the purposes.
Are employed as guards, watch persons, patrol service personnel for the specified property,
security technicians, security officers, and other similar positions.
The term "Security Officer" does not include any of the following - ANSWER Special
police officers, persons working in their official capacity as employees of the federal
government, members of the Metropolitan Police Department or the public police force,
armored car guards, or campus police officers.
Each certification for a security officer shall be: - ANSWER held for 2 years, with a 90
day duration of training
Duty of security agency or employer - ANSWER 1. Cannot make its own determination
of an applicant's suitability for employment.
2. Any attempt at a contractual limitation of liability shall be null and void.
3. Liability of the agency shall be limited to those times when the employee is on duty.

, Eligibility requirements-General - ANSWER 1. Application for a certificate shall be
made to the Mayor
2. Shall submit to the mayor under oath
3. Be at least 18, US citizen or valid immigration and Naturalization Service work permit, and
be able to read, write, and speak English.
Eligibility Requirements- Health:
Each applicant for certification shall be required to submit a physician's certificate stating -
ANSWER 1. Not presently addicted to drugs or alcohol
2. Not suffering from any debilitating mental defect or disorder
3. Not suffering from serious heart disease, severe epilepsy, or other physical defect.
4. Pass a drug screen test
Security officers shall be subject to: - ANSWER reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol
testing by the security agency or employer.
The term "Reasonable Suspicion" means: - ANSWER the officer is impaired while on
duty.
The term "Fails" means: - ANSWER 1. The officer's blood contained more than .03%,
urine contained more than .04%, by weight, of alcohol
2.The drug test detected the presence of a controlled substance in the officer's blood or
urine.
Eligibility Requirements- Criminal Convictions
Shall not be eligible (unless proving they are not a safety risk to the public): -
ANSWER 1. Has been released from incarceration for a felony conviction in any
jurisdiction within 2 years prior
