Chief Complaint:
“My throat has been sore for the last two days and it’s
getting worse.”
History of Present Illness (HPI):
The patient is a 23-year-old female presenting with a
2-day history of acute sore throat. She describes the pain
as severe, sharp, and worsened with swallowing. She
reports associated fever, chills, headache, and fatigue.
She denies cough, rhinorrhea, hoarseness, or
conjunctivitis. She notes difficulty eating solid foods due to
throat pain. She reports recent close contact with a
coworker diagnosed with “strep throat.” No nausea,
vomiting, or abdominal pain reported.
