History of Present Illness (HPI):
Jenna James is a 23-year-old female presenting with a 2–3 day history of
acute sore throat accompanied by fever. She describes the throat pain as
constant, sharp, and worse with swallowing. She reports associated chills,
headache, fatigue, and decreased appetite. She denies cough, nasal
congestion, rhinorrhea, hoarseness, shortness of breath, or chest pain. She
states that several classmates have recently been ill with similar symptoms.
She has been taking over-the-counter acetaminophen with minimal relief.
She denies nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or rash.
