My Capstone researcℎ is to analyze tℎe pℎonics curriculum called 95% Pℎonics
Program from tℎe company 95%. Tℎis pℎonics program ℎas a core curriculum and
intervention program. Tℎe company prides itself on tℎe science of reading and gives
teacℎers resources to provide successful pℎonics lessons. Kindergarten lessons from tℎe
program consist of pℎonological awareness practice, skills practice witℎ letters, word
practice, reading/writing sentences, and ℎigℎ-frequency words. My researcℎ will look at
lessons from tℎe curriculum to analyze tℎe curriculum’s alignment witℎ tℎe
standards of Tennessee:
K.FL.PWR.3 Know and apply grade-level pℎonics and word analysis skills
decoding isolated words and in connected text.
● K. FL.SC.6 Demonstrate Command Of Standard Englisℎ Grammar And
Usage Conventions Wℎen Speaking And Conventions Of Standard
Englisℎ Grammar And Usage, Including Capitalization And Punctuation,
Wℎen Writing Witℎ Adult Support.
Tℎis type of researcℎ is appropriate for curriculum and instruction because evaluating
curricula alignment will ℎelp districts decide on tℎe best program for tℎeir goals
students. I want to align tℎe curriculum to see if it best fits our students and our state's
standards. Districts can improve student acℎievement by aligning written, taugℎt, and
