IPPS-A ELM Terms

define the response and restore times that the Help Center will try to meet while
responding to requests for service from employees.

12. Approval Chain: A defined path of Approvers, Reviewers, Intermediate Approvers, or
Alternate Approvers (where needed).

13. Approval Workflow Engine (AWE): Peoplesoft delivered process that provides
capabilities for creating, running, and managing approval processes within IPPS-A.

14. Approvals: Validation from a Manager or Administrator for a user to enroll in specific
IPPS-A training programs.

15. Approver: A User gives the authority to approve transactions and submits them to the
next level of approval authority, a Reviewer or ad hoc. Approvers have the ability to
approve, deny with comments, or recycle

17. Attendance Scheme: Lists the values that can be used to mark attendance.
Attendance scheme values are the values that appear on the Learners' Self-Service
pages. Each attendance value is associated with a status which can affect a Learner's
enrollment status. The attendance scheme includes labels for Attended, Not Attended,
and Unknown only. A new label called "very late" can be added and give it the status of
Attended. Attended can be changes to present. Each status must be represented at least
once in the scheme.

18. Auto Drop Status Options: An auto drop status option in the Enterprise Learning
Management System that allows Learners to drop a course or class in which they are
registered.
19. Automated Notifications: System generated notifications to Members to related to
IPPS-A training activities.
20. Batch Process: A process using ELM Process Scheduler, such as Mass Enrollment, are
executed and the database is updated via a job that is run in the background either on
demand or at a specific time in the future.
21. Business Intelligence Analytics (BIA): A comprehensive business intelligence and
analytics platform that delivers dashboards, ad hoc queries, mobile analytics,
notifications and alerts, and enterprise reporting capabilities.
22. Business Unit (BU): A logical organization of data for reporting purposes. There are
currently 57 Business Units defined for IPPS-A across the three components: US Army
Active, US Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. In the Army National Guard there
are 55 Business Units.
23. Case: A "Case' is a transaction, service or response that is "opened" and "closed" over
a period of time to achieve resolution of a problem, issue, request, or other activity.
24. Category, Type, and Detail: In IPPS-A (CRM), every solution is assigned to a Category,
Type, and Detail (C,T,D) to help with the categorizing of solutions.
25. Change of Position (POS): Units use the POS Action for re-slotting of Members into
similar jobs with different positions or for re-slotting into a transient or over strength
position
26. Class: In IPPS-A (ELM) a class is an instance of a course. Class creation includes
determining details such as learning period, duration, enrollment limits, waitlist rules,
drop rules, and completion rules. Some of this information comes by default from the
class's corresponding course and delivery method at the same time the class is created.
27. Class Reason Code Mapping: A code within IPPS-A used by an Administrator to
identify why manual changes were made to a Learner's status. For example, if a
Learner's certificate is revoked or reissued, the Administrator must associate a reason
code for the change, such as "Employee Terminated".
