Source B From an article in an American newspaper published on 14 September 2001.
The reporter was present when President George W Bush visited the site of the
World Trade Centre. A few days later, President Bush announced his ‘War on
Terror’.
I was a few feet away from the President. Bush was thanking the fire fighters
when someone in the crowd shouted they could not hear him. The President
replied with words that made history. ‘I can hear you!’, he declared. ‘The rest
of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will
hear all of us soon.’ The crowd reacted with chants of ‘USA! USA!’. 5
In this dramatic moment, Bush captured the mood of the American people who
wanted to thank the rescue workers and who were determined to bring the evil
doers to justice.
Source C A cartoon published in a popular European newspaper just after George W Bush
stopped being President in 2009.
The cartoon is called ‘Bush and the War on Terror’.
The figure is George W Bush.
