CRJ180: Juvenile Delinquency and Justice
Week 6 Assignment

Combating Juvenile Delinquency

Please answer the following questions using well-developed sentences or short paragraphs, using your own
words. This worksheet requires at least 3 credible sources cited in Strayer Writing Standards (SWS) format.

1. Examine two local programs that address juvenile delinquency and their strategies, partnerships, and
influence on at-risk youth in your community.

Rescue 2 Restore

Boys and Girls Club

2. Propose two to three innovative ways to enhance and improve the effectiveness of the two local
programs you chose to examine.

The Rescue 2 Restore program aims to help young people learn important life skills like taking
responsibility, being positive and patient with others, doing well in school, and giving back to their
community. R2R also aims to help people in secure facilities by reducing behavior problems, teaching
job skills after release, and fostering a sense of empowerment and community connection through
service projects. In addition to teaching dogs, R2R also invites guest speakers to educate people about
how to take care of animals, help them if they're in trouble, and train them properly. These talks give
extra information and training that helps young people in the juvenile justice system, both while they're
in the program and when they go back to their communities. I believe that placing more emphasis on
animal welfare, rescue, and preventing abuse may lead to a better understanding that also applies to
human interactions.

For over 80 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has been making a positive impact on kids and
teens. I have personal memories from the summer of 1987 when I spent time at their Marietta
location, which is still open today. It was a great experience, and I have fond memories of it. The
organization started with just one Club in 1938 and has since expanded to many locations in and
around Atlanta, where they help thousands of kids every day.
