Addressing Gaps in Mental Health Services for Traumatized
Youth
Child trauma also refers to a vulnerability that encompasses different events,
such as abuse, neglect, or even exposure to violence, that impact the growth of
youths. College stress has multiple long-term effects on the victims' psychological,
emotional, and social wellbeing since it produces mental illnesses like depression,
anxiety, and PTSD. However, much emphasis has been placed on teenage trauma,
there is a surprising scarcity and inefficiency of quality, appropriate teenage
psychological treatment. The following research proposal seeks to establish the
challenges faced by youths who need mental health services, especially those who
have been traumatized, and factors that can help in the enhancement of such
programs.
Identifying the Problem
The issue of focus in this study is the limited availability of and poor-quality
mental health care for young people who are suffering from trauma. In the study
done by Hamai & Felitti (2022), it was found that one out of every four children
undergo a traumatic event before their 16th birthday, but the majority fails to get
adequate mental health services. These are in-school problems, substance use, and
higher chances of being involved in the juvenile justice system.
