Essential Question: How can you use the array model to help solve multiplication?
Drawing and Summarizing
When I teach the I would like to incorporate drawing models such as arrays, tape
diagram, and equal groups. Drawing is an extremely effective strategy for all students but
especially for the younger grades. Drawing is very visual but also brings in kinesthetic and

model to represent multiplication equations. For example:
When incorporating detailed drawings with math problems students can use the resource to
solve the equation. Using a visual helps them to better understand the concept and in turn
retain the concepts. Young learners who struggle with numbers and math concepts in general
can benefit from engaging pictures like the one above to help complete the answers. The cars
