Mrs Johnstone – Act 2
o Sees moving to Skelmersdale a very positive occurrence and is quite pleased with her
new life, that is until Mickey and Sammy get arrested and sent to jail
o Very protective and caring over Mickey and his well being
o When she see’s Edward again she is overwhelmed with questions, but holds them
back
o Enquires about the locket she gave him instead
o When Edward and Mickey try to sneak away to see a porn film, she is very aware of
what they’re doing as she has many children and has seen all the tricks
o Understanding
o Aware
o Loving and caring towards her children (many children)
o Damages her to see Sammy and Mickey be sent to prison from Sammy’s armed
robbery of a local store
o Takes Mickey and Linda into her home until they can support themselves and a buy a
house to live in
o Becomes a mother to Linda
o Still working to support herself and her family
o Accepting
o Is the one to reveal to the boys that they are related and are brothers, twins
o Gets threatened by Mrs Lyons with a knife, due to Mrs Lyons descent into paranoia
about their secret
o Ages quite a bit in act 2
o Witnesses Mickey murder Edward with a gun
o Final scene is her grieving over her two dead sons, emotional scene that sparks the
most emotional audience response
o Tries her best to distract and help Mickey to calm down, but fails and sparks a
stronger sense of anger and jealousy in him, ending in the shooting of both boys
