Lovely to meet you. My name is ….. I am a trainee solicitor at ……. I understand it is your
first time with us, did you find it ok accessing the collaborate room?
PRELIMARIES:
I understand that you’ve come to see me because you would like some advice on your
involvement in management structure of Petersbury Quality Steels Limited (PQS) because
you intend to acquire shares in the company?
Great, well I am sure I will be able to help you out today.
I realise there’s a lot for us to get through this afternoon. I have estimated that this
interview will take 30mins. I have no other commitments, do you need to leave at any
particular time?
Great. So briefly, for the structure of today’s interview. First, I will ask you to give me some
background details as to why you have come to see me. Then I will ask you some more
questions, so I have all the information I need and will take some notes. Finally when I have
a complete picture, I will explain what your legal position is and what options I think are
open to you. Between us, then we can begin to think about what courses of action best suit
you. Afterwards, to conclude, we’ll discuss next steps. HOW DOES THAT SOUND?
Brilliant! Well now is a good time to mention the costs of this interview. My firm charges my
time at £210 per hour + VAT. If the interview takes the full 30minutes as I anticipate, the
cost will be £105 + VAT. Are you happy to proceed on this basis?
Good. I will of course, return to the matter of costs at the end of the interview as well.
