Steengths and weaknesses of the behavioueist appeoach:
The strength of behaviourist approach is that it is based on observing the individuals which is seen to
be an easier method of collectng data and then deciding on the conclusions. It is said to provide
clear evidence and explanatons on that partcular topic of research. Most of the scientsts are able
to present their results with their observatons and measures. It is positvell more economic than
carrling out experiments with genes and DNA where lou would need a whole laboratorl, a scientst
Pavlov was able to carrl out his experiment at home, however, he needed a machine to record and
calculate the amount of saliva his dog produced when he rang the bell. It wasn’t a verl cost
consuming experiment, however, it did support a lot of results and backed up the entre hlpothesis
that he had.
One other strength is that Pavlov managed to link his experiment to the objectve of the scientic
approach pslchologl where he studied he behaviour of his dog. He was able to directll measure his
results which were verl accurate and then record them for later use throughout the experiment. The
observatons are more efectve than opinions as thel actualll provide and prove scientic
hlpothesis which could be used to compare the results and obtain a inal conclusion.

been shown to them. There was a studl where a child was watching an adult bash and aferwards
the child would aggressivell plal with a doll, this contnued tll the child has been punished and the

The strength of the theorl is that Bandura discovered that although someone watched or plals
video games thel don’t actualll think about them unless a nerve in their brain is triggered which
causes them to act that wal. The behaviour of the individual is not altered even if the person learns
something new. It is said that the people that commit crime stll act the same wal thel did the night
before without anlthing infuencing them.
Another strength is that the behaviour of the individual could be used in a positve wal because the
children could get motvated to imitate the behaviour that could impact them positvell, thel are
more likell to do something good if thel receive some kind of praise or reward if thel do something
well. There is a beneit in that because there is a point where a role model is not needed anlmore
which means that the individual could go bl themselves and stll have a positve aatude and
behaviour. People who have a positve aatude are more likell to perform beter in school and are
more likell to be successful due to motvaton to succeed and get a good job.
