,Lovell Rebellion 1486
● Led by Viscount Francis Lovell along with Sir Humphrey Stafford
and Thomas Stafford.
● Aimed to restore the Yorkist monarchy, as the throne had been
usurped by a Lancastrian less than a year earlier.
● Henry VII used spies to monitor the activities of Yorkist supporters.
● HVII learned of the rebellion in April 1486.
● Richard Edgecumbe and William Tyler appointed to apprehend
Lovell.
, Lambert Simnel Rebellion 1486
● Lambert Simnel was a pretender; claimed to be Edward
Plantagenet, Earl of Warwick.
● Yorkist rebellion; unhappy with the fact that HVII had usurped the
throne.
● Organised by Richard Symonds (Earl of Kildare), John de la Pole
(Earl of Lincoln) and the Duchess of Burgundy.
● 4000 rebels killed at the Battle of East Stoke.
● Henry pardoned Simnel himself, recognising he was merely a
puppet controlled by adults; he put him to work in the royal
kitchens.
